Leather Furniture and Why You Should Buy it

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Leather spells class and sophistication. A brilliant leather bed in the bedchamber builds a fashionable and specific assertion. It will also give great comfort for a lifetime. Like wine, the further it endures the finer it gets. Soft, premium leather can take blood heat really rapidly to allow for amazing comfort. Real leather furniture has got a few advantages, this makes it very trendy in homes that feature a modern, contemporary or modern day look. Leather has unmatched attributes that make it spectacular when compared with other fabrics and textiles. Top amongst them is its durability. Leather beds will serve you a lot of time without losing its character. Leather won’t break or lose colour, peel or break as easy as other materials. Strong leather and robust cushioning make upholstered bedheads alot more comfier, and leather bedheads come in an array of colours.

Before you buy any leather furniture, it’s important to see the different leather types used for furniture fabricating. Leather furniture built from full aniline leather causes remarkable softness, comfort, and lavishness, but it’s less hard-wearing and additional care should be used when using this type of furniture. It’s very prone to discoloration by sunshine and vulnerable to watery spills.

Semi-aniline leather has comfort and softness of full aniline leather with the extra lastingness and colour pattern of pigmented leather. This is a superb type of material that amasses rewards of both leather-processing technologies. Coloured leather has durable attributes and is better suited for heavy furniture. It also has great stain and spill immunity. Nubuck is really aniline leather with the surface being brushed to create a texture alike to a velvet on leather. A lot of folks befuddle this with suede leather. Suede is the flesh side of a bit of leather and nubuck is an outcome that’s caused to the grain side.

Mexcian Living: Traditional Mexican Eating

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I have been a little preoccupied lately with my diet. The reason being is that I am too fat! The doctor told me that I am now Seor Tubby and I need to lose some weight. I am suffering from some blood sugar issues and this is, as you know, not good.

Therefore, I have been looking at my diet and have been doing so in the context of Mexico where my wife and I live. What I mean is that when you travel around this great country you can see a wide range of fit to unfit Mexicans.

For example, here in Guanajuato where there are fewer car owners (it is my theory that cars make you fat), there are more walkers and thus thinner, fitter Mexicans. There are some fat-butts but there are fewer than you would see in Leon or Guadalajara where there are more car owners, fewer walkers, and a Burger King on every corner.

Here’s what I am thinking:

You take massive car ownership where driving stresses you out to no end.

This makes you want to eat to soothe your stress.

You see on each street corner an American (note I said American) fast-food chains, all you can stuff down your gullet buffets.

And there you have the formula for a bunch of diabetics in the making!

I know, if you’ve been following my columns, you must think I am an anti-American malcontent. Well, listen very carefully to what I am about to say: I am an anti-American malcontent! Let me explain why.

Here is just one good example about America with which I am malcontented:

Everyone goes along in their humdrum existences pretending there is nothing wrong with America. When the truth is Americans are dropping dead by the lard bucket loads because of American businesses that could care less that you weigh 450 pounds as the result of eating at their coronary-inducing food establishments.

Am I right here? Am I on the right track?

Do you think for one moment that these American fast-food chains look at a Mr. Blimpy (like me) who comes through the door topping the scales at about 580 (I am really 280) and think to themselves,

“Well gosh, maybe we should say something to this guy. He doesn’t look like he needs to be eating our triple-decker 100% fatty meat, four pounds of cheese, sandwich?”

No they don’t! Their “bottom line” is not the healthy well- being of their customers. It is how much food they can convince you to buy. That is their bottom line. They care not about you but your pocketbook.

These fat-makers are now in Mexico and are here to stay. They have hooked Mexicans just as they have Americans and it is showing in the Mexican women’s breasts.

“The study published in the August 2004 issue of the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention clearly reported more breast cancer in women who ate more calories, protein, total carbohydrates, sucrose, and fructose. Sucrose is table sugar and fructose is the primary sugar found in soft drinks (sodas); usually reported as high fructose corn syrup. Eating more fiber and starch (often referred to as complex carbohydrates), both only found in plant foods, meant less breast cancer according to the study.” [1]

The traditional Mexican diet, one of corn (tortillas), beans, fruits and vegetables, has been associated with lower incidents of not only breast cancers but of other diseases of Western Civilization. Let me ask you this: Do you think these American fast-food chains are offering a traditional Mexican diet?

Breast cancer is on the rise with younger Mexican women who are the targets of the slick advertising of these American food chains. These women are the prey of the American marketing predators!

So for your humble but Blimpy columnist it is more corn (tortillas), beans, fruits and vegetables, and getting off my pompi (this is buttock in Spanish).

See what you can learn from reading my column?

Shopping In Japan

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Shopping is always an important part when travelling. It is even more important and interesting in Japan where you can find many unique and beautiful souvenirs to bring back to your home country.

Don’t think that you can bargain in every Asian country. Japan is the exception. Don’t try to bargain when going shopping in Japan, especially in large department stores. You can only ask for a small discount when you go to the flea markets. It is acceptable there.

If you want to save some money in your shopping, try flea markets and one hundred yen shops (100 yen equals about $0.99). You can find almost everything there, from cosmetics to kitchen utensils. Don’t miss them! They are the cheapest deals in Japan. You like fast and convenient purchases? Try the Japanese street vendor machines. They are everywhere in Japan. You can buy many kinds of food and drinks and even some electronic devices from them.

Unlike many other Asian countries where sellers try to take advantages of foreign customers, Japanese merchants are quite honest and fair. Although there may be some exceptions, they are only the minority. The prices are usually reasonable and reflect the right value of the products. Therefore, you don’t have to be suspicious and go around comparing the prices. It just wastes your time and effort. The usual result is that you just find the same price or even worse, you cannot find the same product anywhere else.

If you find something you really like, don’t miss it. Don’t think that all souvenir stores offer the same products and you can buy it in other places. Many regions and stores have unique things that you cannot find in anywhere else.

You should plan your shopping carefully the day before if you are in a big city, such as Tokyo or Kyoto. Finding the addresses is very difficult there and travelling from one place to another is really tiring and expensive. Therefore, consult your map carefully and group all your desired destinations in advance. Be aware of the opening and closing time of the stores as well. Depending on the store, shopping hours are often from 10a.m to 7-8p.m. Most major stores also open during the weekend but may not open on public holidays.

In Japan, people use cash mostly as the means of payment. Some big department stores may take credit cards but in most places people will not have any idea about what to do if you hand them a credit card. When bringing cash with you, remember to be aware of pickpockets in crowded areas.

People often buy electronic goods, watches and crafts when going to Japan. There are many kinds of cute souvenirs available, such as kimonos, paper lanterns or Japanese dolls. If you are looking for some inexpensive gifts, everyday items are very suitable. Your friends will be very happy if you present them with Japanese chopsticks, candies, dishes, etc. Those gifts are not only inexpensive but also cute and more importantly, very Japanese.

Brilliant Fridges Online

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

If you are browsing for the best offer on fridges and freezers browsing on the internet should be an amazing method to save time & cash. Do not choose to blow your treasured time looking round many high-street outlets in search of the very best deals – all you need to do is simply sit down at your laptop and log on and a whole wide planet of fridges awaits you online. Don’t throw away your time looking for high quality fridges on bad websites.

Then again, with legions online shops how do you possibly look into which store might not waste your money on fridges whilst still ensuring you buy an outstanding quality product. As best practice if you buy your appliance from an outlet on your high-street then you certainly should not in reality have many significant concerns about purchasing your goods from their web site, also, as we should all realise that you might often often pick up much better value prices on the internet

Quickly scanning a comprehensive buyers guide is consistently the best place to begin when scanning for fridges – they are generally crammed with a wealth of data and bring up points you conceivably will often not have thought through independently. Theses important considerations can include; energy consumption, extra features and storage capacity amongst further things.

Don’t choose to regularly go with the ‘cheapest price’ – remarkably oftentimes the first cost you behold on a web-site might not include VAT or home delivery fees furthermore, once you finally reach the payment point in the process you may be paying a great deal more than you initially thought.

When do you need it by? Not all online options guarantee prompt home delivery and if your original fridge has recently stopped working you conceivably might well not desire to wait three weeks for your new one. So be sure to always check what your estimated delivery date will be.

Check the return policy – fridges are a tricky item to buy; sometimes they look fantastic in the showroom or on a website but once you get it home you realise it doesn’t match your home at all. Therefore, you should always be prudent.

Enchanting Christmas Markets of Fairytale Germany

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

We arrive in Munich and our guide makes it clear this is Bavaria. Bavarians favor autonomy from Germany and even have their own language. I’ve been here many times but looking through sober eyes now, I find it more vibrant, clean and sophisticated. We spend 2 days with Nancy, an excellent guide who has already emailed me to remain in touch. I have a mini-group of just 26 so this is like a vacation for me. It’s a first time abroad for some and I love to learn from them as they notice things with child-like enthusiasm that I don’t. This is the hi-tech land of engineering. We pass a 9 story Mercedes dealership with new cars stacked to the shape of an Advent tree. We also see the BMW factory. I wish I could work here with 7 weeks vacation per year, 340 different work schedules to choose from, a gym, spa and its many other benefits. We stop for hot apple strudel and visit the well known sites. Here is the 100′ Christmas tree with 2500 candles. Our welcome dinner at Haufbrauhous is a delight with yodeling, alp horns and sausages of everything-wurst. The group toasts their steins of natural beer made only of barley, water and hops.

It’s time to move on to the enchanting storybook villages. This is a magical time to visit. No country celebrates Christmas with more passion than Germany. As we head to the alps, the morning sky looks like a pale bruise. Soon a blizzard engulfs our coach but we have an experienced driver named Eno who we fell in love with by trips end in 7 days.

We arrive at Neuschwanstein and ride by horse and carriage up to the famous castle. (This is the one Disney fashioned its own after.) I’ve seen more castles than I can count around the world but this medieval knight’s fortress with gothic spires is spectacular. Built in 1869, it looks brand spanking new with decorated rooms intact. The 388 steps inside are well worth the climb. There’s hardly anyone here whereas summer can draw 5,000 tourists each day. In winter, this fairytale castle becomes dreamlike surreal. That’s why I enjoy traveling off season.

Pity poor Mad King Ludwig II who designed this worlds largest, most extravagant, expensive and opulent castle for himself. It’s a sad story of the 6′ king who lived here only 4 months. The people loved him as much as the German Tourist Board does today. His family however, did not. They sought to declare Ludwig insane and hired a team of psychiatrists to prove such. Although he was prone to depression and insomnia, no doctor could find him mentally unfit. After short rule, his body was found in the lake and the family stated it was suicide. But the body of his psychiatrist was also found so most agree it was murder, particularly since an autopsy was refused. Later it was determined that Ludwig was gay, so the “fairytale king” was truly a fairy.

We stopped in charming Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Plays every 10 years. The wood houses are painted with fairytales: Hansel & Gretel, Red Riding Hood, etc. We then toured Nuremburg with an astute guide who brought the city to life before our eyes from 15th century to its destruction in WWII. Some went off to the Toy Museum or Torture Museum while I set out to explore the world’s largest Xmas market.

With giant lit trees, double carousals, horses with bells, over 400 stalls of food and crafts, this is a s festive as it gets! I graze my way through on white chocolate bananas, fruit breads, glazed grapes, dipped pretzels, pink marzipan pigs, licorice angles and all types of roasting sugar coated nuts. Shaped gingerbreads are omnipresent and the aroma of warm sweet Gluh-wine fragrances the air. I’m on a sugar high and head for the crafts. Shopping is a blood sport here through narrow lanes but MasterCard is my armor and I find all my toy treasures. There are giant nutcrackers representing every occupation, unique mangers and 29 trillion ornaments. At dusk the illumination begins. I pause for a dinner of 6 bratwursts, Bavarian cheese and a pyramid of sauerkraut to last me to 2012.

In Rodenthal we toured the Goebel/Hummel Factory. I anticipated boredom yet became fascinated to learn how precious each piece is. From 1871 to today, 700 artists create these tiny non-useful figurines. They are paid per piece and if a mistake is made, it must be broken. The highest paid artists are the delicate “face painters.” I met one woman who has spent 12 years just painting eyebrows, another on lips and a man who has worked 10 years blushing cheeks! The eye strain must be like threading sewing needles for a lifetime and it takes 3 years apprenticeship to graduate to this level. Initially our guide assumed we were a collectors club when in reality we can barely afford a 2” baby Jesus. Later in East Germany we visited Lauenstein Confiserie, a chocolate/praline factory that was so busy with the season, they hardly notice us. I tasted from the chocolate fountain nearly having a cocoa orgasm and confirm again that America can never produce this product as purely or satisfying as Europe.

The best of all towns was Rothenberg, population 2300 where our Hotel Prince was located right inside the fortified walls of Old Town. Our guided walk here instantly awakened all my 5 senses and made me want to linger for days. We tend to go over the top each year with our flashy decorations. Among the half timbered homes here on cobbled streets, it is quieter and softer. One is taken back to the Middle Ages with the pewter ornaments hand crafted and evergreens lit with candles. Afterwards, our guide Claudia invites us all into her home. I go to buy a “snowball” for which this town is renowned. They are piled high like colored softballs in the windows. For over 300 years, these pastries were frugally made from scraps of fresh pie dough. Dipped in chocolate, berries or cinnamon butter, they melt in your mouth. As the sun shines, I remove my coat to a balmy 50. How I wished it would snow.

We end our tour in the Student Prince town of Heidelberg with entrance to the famous castle and its 55,000 gallon wooden wine barrel. That night I reflect on a great trip, my last one for 2005. I write this journal so my wonderful little group will remember it all. With pride, I’ll always remember them; on time, patient, no complaints, generous tippers, polite to locals and friendly with each other. Perfect travelers I wish I could clone.

After hugging Eno goodbye, we exited with so many shopping bags that he now thinks he needs a trailer in tow of his coach. This December, it was joyous to be transported back in time. It certainly brought me in touch with my inner elf. What a gift!

Luggage Shipping is Convenient and Can Save You Time and Money

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

If you travel a lot, of if you travel at all, you probably know what a hassle it is to bring luggage along. Many of us try to avoid checking luggage because it often gets lost and it’s just a hassle to do so. If you are tired of having to stand in long lines, having your luggage damaged, and waiting to get your luggage off of the plane when you land, you might want to think about luggage shipping services. There are some great baggage delivery options out there that can help you save time, and in the long run, you can even save money.

Luggage Shipping Is Convenient

These great luggage shipping services will allow you to pack all of your things and have them picked up at your door. Not only will the items be picked up at your door, but you will also benefit from luggage delivery to the door of your hotel room, the home of your family, or wherever else you may be traveling to. These luggage shipping services will allow you to have your items picked up at your front door before you leave, and then delivered to your destination to really streamline the travel process. Now you don’t have to wait in long lines to check your baggage, you can get with a luggage shipping company to have it all done for you. Because you don’t have to stand in long lines to check your baggage with the airline, you don’t have to get to the airport as early and you can go right to security and get to your gate.

Not Just For Typical Luggage

Baggage shipping isn’t just for your typical luggage such as clothes and other personal items. Many people use luggage shipping services to transport their sports equipment, hunting equipment, and more. Many sports equipment delivery companies know just how to handle your sports and hunting equipment so that it will not only be delivered in the most timely fashion, it will also be done in the safest fashion. Skis, golf equipment, tennis equipment, and shotguns are commonly transported through sports equipment shipping specialists because they promise safe delivery of these expensive items. Many skiers and snowboarders use sports shipping services because they want to use their own equipment away from home. Scuba gear shipping, as well as skis shipping is also quite common, because much of this cannot be checked into airline baggage, and this is the safest way to have the equipment you trust shipped to the location of your choice.

Avid golfers usually use golf clubs delivery services because they can get your golf clubs to any course without causing damage. Anyone that knows anything about golfing knows how expensive each individual club can be, so it’s understandable that checking ones clubs with the airline wouldn’t be ideal. Golf clubs shipping services allow one to have their priceless clubs picked up at their door and delivered to them at their destination in the same condition they were in at home.

Luggage Shipping Saves Money

While luggage shipping services typically come at a premium, they often save customers a lot of money. Items such as golf clubs, skis, and snowboards are often damaged when they are checked with an airline. Unless the damage can be proved, the airline will not reimburse for such damage. Also, the airlines usually will have the owner of such equipment sign a waiver so that they cannot be held liable for damage. When you use luggage shipping services, your items will be delivered safe and sound. This will save you money in the long run if you travel often with your things. The airline can end up costing you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars if you travel often. This is money that you can save if you use a luggage shipping service.

Acquire Discount Cycling Tools on the Web Today

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

There are a couple of things you’ll want to acquire when you commence cycling. The 1st and most obvious is a quality bike that fits you! Though that might seem like a no-brainer, loads of people begin out on bikes that are too small, or manufactured with poor quality components, merely because they’re a great deal less expensive. The right fit & a well built bike can make your ride a lot easier, but, do not be coaxed to bargain shop for your bike. However, it will be better in the long run to get one that will survive you a great amount of time. As soon as you have a bicycle that’s correct for you, it’s time to get the other cycling items that will assist you in becoming a keen cyclist.

Lights: The minimum required by UK law for your bicycle is a small number of reflectors. Nonetheless a headlight and tail light are useful, even throughout the day. When it’s dark and rainy, they can make a substantial impact in your visibility to motor cars.

Tools: Just like driving a motor car, accidents do crop up while you are cycling. Therefore, it is important to keep a tiny tool kit with you at all times to take care of flat tyres, uncooperative chains, loose bolts and any other problems.

Helmet: Whilst it is legal in most locations to go without a cycling helmet, in several others, one is mandatory. If you are hoping to bike often, it is clever to have one even in places where no helmet law exists.

Clothing: Whilst special cycling clothing is unquestionably optional, it’s prudent to pay close attention to what you’re wearing. Loose clothes should be avoided, or tucked up so they do not get wedged in the chain. Get a great deal on cycling equipment from Sportswear-Equipment.com.

Locks: Unless you are lucky enough to live in a place where you are able store your bike inside all the time, a security device is key. Even in rural areas, there are individuals who will willingly nick and resell your bicycle.

20 Tips for Being Productive on the Road

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

For many mortgage professionals, frequent travel is a way of life. A big concern of frequent travelers is how to remain productive without access to the normal resources. Sometimes that first trip leaves you feeling like a fish out of water. Especially if you didn’t anticipate your customer’s needs. But with each new journey, you will learn more ways to function efficiently. With a little planning, you can make your time away transparent to those you communicate with daily. Here are a few tips to make it happen:

1. Make a list of the things that need to be accomplished before your departure. Rate locks, file submissions, or any other critical appointments should be handled before you leave.

2. Contact processors, loan officers, underwriters, and other individuals to let them know you’ll have limited availability from xxxx to xxxx.

3. Sign-up for an e-fax or other electronic fax service that will allow you to view, send, and receive faxes over the Internet. This will allow you to function just as if you were in the office.

4. Make a resource list for the things you will need to do while away. Include phone and fax numbers, website addresses, access codes, and passwords. Store this data on your pc, phone, or both.

5. Make a copy or scan an image of documents you may wish to reference while away. This will allow you to stay on top of the most important issues.

6. Save important letters, forms, and files to a jump drive, a CD, or e-mail them to yourself so that you can access them as needed. Convert documents that you would normally fax to a PDF format so they can be e-mailed but not altered.

7. Check the quality of your cell and laptop batteries. Get new ones if you will be without access to electricity to recharge for long periods of time. Be sure to pack your chargers as well.

8. Add a wireless card to your laptop if it does not have one already. Although your hotel may have their own Internet café, these rooms are sometimes crowded or have limited hours of availability.

9. Pack an Ethernet cord and a phone cord. This will allow you to get online no matter what type of connectivity your hotel has.

10. Take a phone card as a backup. It may come in handy in areas where your cell phone signal drops. Used in conjunction with a cell phone, you can eliminate hotel phone charges altogether.

11. Pack pain reliever, antacid, and cold medicine just in case. If you have to buy these things on the road, they’ll cost double what they normally do.

12. Download audio files to an Ipod, mp3, or CD. Music or motivational audios may be just what you need to balance your day.

13. During your trip, incorporate as many of your normal activities as possible. Continue to exercise. Drink plenty of water and eat right. Take your vitamins. Keep in contact with family and friends. Let them know what time to call you.

14. Plan your day before going to your daily meeting, training, or appointment. This will allow you to make the most of breaks, lunches, or other dead time.

15. Make use of the special features on your phone. Text messaging and Internet access can be a lifesaver when you’re on the road.

16. Get the scoop on your hotel’s amenities in advance. The last thing you want is to have trouble connecting with your customers and your team because of limited resources. Go online to the hotel’s corporate website for a virtual tour. You might also check out ratings and feedback on Hotels.com. Ask questions.

17. Take along a healthy snack and a bottle of water or two. If you experience a flight delay or get stuck in rush hour traffic, you won’t be bothered by hunger or thirst.

18. Pack as light as possible. Pulling heavy luggage plus a laptop through the airport is no joke. Choose a jacket that will get you through the week. Bring a pair of dress shoes that go with everything and a pair of sneakers or sandals for down time. Switch up a shirt/blouse with a basic pair of pants/skirt. Take travel size toiletries to make more room in you luggage. And for the ladies: leave some of your hair artillery, fragrances, and makeup at home. This stuff alone can take up a full piece of luggage. You’ll look just as good with the bare essentials.

19. Initiate contact with your customers and team members early in the day while you’re away. This will allow you to deal with challenges or concerns at a time when it is convenient for you. Otherwise, you may find yourself bombarded with phone calls and emergencies that could have been avoided.

20. Be realistic. There is no way that everything is going to be perfect when you’re away. If it were then no one would need you in the first place. Take care of the biggest priorities. Give training and guidance before you leave and then delegate as many projects as you can. Make a plan to take care of other things within the first few days of your return.

When you plan your business trip well, you will feel far less pressure and frustration. It allows you to focus on the real purpose of your trip. You might even have the opportunity to get rest and relaxation that are hard to get at home. So, don’t fret about your next trip. Think more about how it will enhance your business and rejuvenate your mind and body.

Christmas Gifts – How To Get Massive Discounts & Give Away Christmas Gifts For 12 Days of Christmas

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Christmas is the time of giving that comes once a year.Whether we are the young ones or the parents or grandparents, no matter where we live in, Christmas is the time when the meaning of giving in love is felt everywhere.

It is during Christmas that we dig deep into our pockets to give gifts and presents to our loved ones, and to friends and to missions, to spread the goodwill and the cheer.

For those who have more, we give away more. To those who have less and are financially challenged, we still find ways to give whatever we can, and feel good in the process. We can still give away a smile, give away our time to help someone in need and just give away our prayers for the well being of someone who need a touch from God.

As a good steward of our money, we would want to stretch our dollar during Christmas by deciding on the best gifts that we would like to give away, and obtaining them at the best prices. What can we actually give away, and where can we get these desired christmas gifts at heavily discounted prices?

We would truly be blessed if we can give away gifts for 12 days of Christmas! In any case, here are 12 wonderful gift ideas that you can think of to give away:

2. Condo Vacation – Suggestion : Give away a condo vacation for your parents or grandparents or your grown up children to allow them to get away from it all- and to recharge their batteries, and be refreshed from a short holiday stay. Many condos’ are well located, and have facilities that please!

3. Cruises – Suggestion : Give a surprise cruise holiday to your spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend! Enjoy the high seas or the short river cruise, complete with lunch or dinner. Feel the sea breeze blowing against your face, and enjoy the tranquility of the wide expanse of the sea, and be close to Nature.

4. Airline Flights – Suggestion : Give away a flight ticket for that much talked about flight to somewhere that your children have been talking about but cannot afford. See the faces of your children lit up when they get the flight tickets.
