Hand Analysis: 5-9
The 9 to 5 is also known as the Working Girl, the Dolly Parton poker hand, Hard Working man, and probably many local others related to the idea of the working stiff, the 9 to 5 job. Despite its many titles, this isn’t really a hand you’d ever want to show up anywhere with, as the only way it can end up working hard is if you get really lucky, or if you push it without even caring what your cards are. For that reason, the set of nicknames that have attached to it make a good metaphor. But let’s not be dirty brained.
Here’s a good general rule of advice for the 9 to 5 hand: just fold. Fold those poker online cards into the muck and wait for a better set. It doesn’t matter how aggressive you are, or what position you are in, you can’t or probably shouldn’t play every single hand, and this is one of those that might as well just hit the dust. What would you be trying to accidentally make if you raised? A weak pair? A weak backdoor straight? Trips with a weak kicker?
Even if you are the type of player who plays off expectation and doesn’t care what your cards are, people are going to catch up to you, and if they do so while you’re holding this stinker, you’re probably going to be in trouble. Remember this when you play online poker.
